Condo Remodeling
Plan a condo remodel around the building as well as the unit, from shared plumbing and delivery access to cabinet layouts and finish selections.

Where your unit meets the building
A kitchen wall may back onto a neighbor’s bathroom or hide a shared pipe chase. Mark shared walls, windows, risers and shutoffs on a floor plan before deciding what to move. That drawing helps separate work inside the unit from items the association manages.
Making construction fit the building
Ask management for the alteration packet, work hours, elevator policy and floor protection requirements. A reserved elevator and a place for deliveries matter when old cabinets and new appliances pass through the same lobby.
What should I bring to the first conversation?
Bring the association’s remodeling guidelines, your unit plan if available, and photos of the rooms. Point out anything you want to relocate so the team can identify the questions to take back to management.
