A San Jose kitchen remodel can mean new doors on existing boxes, or it can mean taking out a wall to join the kitchen to the family room. Those two projects follow different City paths and need different drawings, so we sort out which one you are planning at the first meeting.
Our in-house licensed architect then draws the room: appliance clearances, the range hood route, island spacing, lighting and the outlets the code requires along the counters. Cabinet orders are placed against those drawings.

San José confirms the path for every address. For a kitchen, the question is whether the sink, appliances or walls are moving.
- Same layout. Replacing cabinets, counters and appliances in their existing positions without framing changes is a minor remodel with an online permit through SJPermits.
- New layout. Moving the sink or range, adding an island with plumbing or power, or removing a wall is a major remodel reviewed with a full plan set.
- Inspections. The City inspects rough electrical, plumbing and framing before drywall, then signs off at the final inspection.
